JABII's molding challenge was significant – BÖHME contributed solutions

The startup company JABII has developed an advanced gadget that invites fun, physical duels.

JABII's injection-molded unit, which is the focal point of the game, is designed for impacts, shocks, and a high degree of flexibility.

During the development phase, JABII had 3D-printed the unit prior to the construction of the mold. In the initial testing, the first problems arose.

"The tolerances we had defined for parts of the product were not spot on. There was too much friction. Therefore, we sought a second opinion from an experienced plastics specialist," says JABII's director, Christian Thostrup.

Mould problem solved

BÖHME's knowledge and insight propelled the process forward.

One specific issue proved crucial to JABII's production process:

"Our supplier indicated that one of our product requirements couldn't be achieved through molding. BÖHME took on the challenge and proposed a solution. This resulted in our requirement being met after all," recalls JABII's director.

Plastics specialists can be crucial for a startup

For JABII, the collaboration with BÖHME has contributed to minimizing time loss in the development process.

"When you're developing hardware and dealing with plastics, there are a thousand things that can go wrong. Significant delays often mean extra expenses. This typically leads to problems with investors, and worst-case scenario, you might as well close up shop," explains Christian Thostrup, adding:

"Our collaboration with BÖHME has meant that we didn't waste unnecessary time in the production of our injection molding mould."

Christian Thostrup's advice to other companies is:

"Allocate funds for a second opinion from a plastics specialist. It's money well spent – both in terms of time and the significant amount of money you risk losing if the injection molding tool isn't 100 percent correct."
